With a well-established client base around Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas, they have a thriving engineering division that requires a new Health, Safety & Compliance Specialist.
Job Description:
We invite qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Health, Safety & Compliance Specialist. Collaborating with our Health & Safety Consultant, this role spearheads the company's Health, Safety, and Training initiatives. With a solid construction industry background you'll be a crucial member reporting directly to the Board of Directors. If you're commercially astute, and results-oriented, this is an excellent opportunity to champion health & safety best practices for our staff.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our Consultant and Operations Managers to create Risk Assessments Method Statements that uphold our health and safety management system in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Engage with key stakeholders to formulate and approve policies and procedures.
- Draft construction phase plans and ensure compliance.
- Enhance our online system (safety culture) usage in collaboration with our Consultant to ensure comprehensive H&S business compliance.
- Lead management discussions and toolbox talks in tandem with our Health & Safety Consultant.
- Investigate reported incidents, ensuring preventive measures are taken.
- Maintain and present a monthly report of incident statistics to the board.
- Halt any hazardous practices that jeopardise the well-being of employees.
- Coordinate with external consultants to offer health and safety guidance and training to the entire team.
- Oversee the onboarding of new recruits and issuing necessary equipment.
- Manage the company-wide auditing programme for H&S adherence including subcontractors.
- Address client-specific environmental concerns through IEMA Environmental management.
- All procurement activity concerning health and safety.
Essential Qualities & Skills:
- NEBOSH General Certificate Level qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely / Site Management Safety Training Scheme certified.
- Strong strategic acumen with a patient and persistent mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- At least 5 years of construction industry experience.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- Uphold company values in all professional interactions.
- Familiarity with the Safety Culture App is a plus.
