Manufacturing Planner

£25000 - £35000 Per Annum

An expanding client based in Bolton are looking for a Manufacturing Planner to join the team. The work carried out is extremely highly regulated so previous experience working on MOD/highly regulated projects is essential.


  • Scheduling of engineering and manufacturing tasks over one project to meet contract
  • Updating of schedules in line with progress and contractual movement
  • Pipeline analysis of capacity/loading 

Key Objectives:

  • Creating schedules to facilitate engineering, documentation and production resource planning
  • Updating the schedule throughout the project life-cycle
  • Collating project data to show progress
  • Impacting programmes showing contractual movement


  • Create engineering and manufacturing schedules
  • Update schedules in line with progress
  • Materially contribute to the creation of effective WBS
  • Convert contract requirements into a resource loaded schedule
  • Liaise with internal resources to ensure schedules is realistic and achievable and identify important schedule related risks
  • Measure performance of resources
  • Work closely with the project team, subcontractors and supply chain to expedite and maintain accurate up to date data for multiple stages of a project
  • Reporting and planning reviews with clients and others requiring information for ongoing planning reporting cycles
  • Work closely with the reporting function, inputting into their process and regular cycle
  • Identify issues and escalate to the project manager as appropriate
  • Manage production of appropriate project documentation
  • Apply agreed planning standards and ensure they are adopted and embedded across in the programme
  • Transfer skills and knowledge to internal staff as appropriate
  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required and as are commensurate with the grade of the post


  • Good understanding of machining, fabrication industry and processes, from the design stage through to manufacture of assemblies
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel to create and maintain schedules
  • Be a team player with skills to facilitate the ability to receive and extract information
  • Demonstrate the process of the information coordination and presentation
  • Working autonomously and in a team environment
  • Proven project planning experience within an engineering environment
  • Understanding of business planning and pipeline analysis
  • Ability to work at pace and under pressure, with initiative and can-do attitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills


  • Production or manufacturing qualification within an engineering subject
  • Demonstrate the ability of managing the scheduling of projects in excess of £3 million
  • Experience with the manufacturing of components for the nuclear industry
  • SC clearance would be advantageous


  • Excellent basic wage of between £25K – £35K DOE
